Coyote Sighting

We want to inform the community that the Town received reports that a coyote was recently sighted on Holmes and on Lee streets. Coyotes may be spotted as they travel in search of food, especially during early morning or evening hours.

At this time, there is no indication of aggressive behavior or of a multitude of coyotes here. However, we encourage residents to take the following precautions:

  • Do not approach or attempt to feed coyotes
  • Keep pets leashed and supervise them while outdoors
  • Secure trash, pet food, and other potential food sources
  • If you encounter a coyote, make yourself appear larger, make loud noises, and slowly back away

If a coyote appears injured or behaves aggressively, call 911. If a coyote is frequently spotted in a particular area, please report it to the non-emergency police line at 843-549-2211.
