Stormwater Committee
The purpose and duties of the Committee shall be as follows:
- To make recommendations to Town Council at its regular monthly meetings on development, implementation and organization related to the stormwater utility.
- To assist and advise the Town Council in the establishment and maintenance of stormwater utility objectives. Upon approval by the Committee, objectives shall be used to establish criteria for managing stormwater runoff and drainage, infrastructure needs, legislative actions and funding. Areas of responsibility shall include developing, advocating and coordinating policy recommendations to the Town Council and educating Council about the stormwater issues.
- To make recommendations to Town Council regarding stormwater management and how proposed changes comply with Best Management Practices as outlined in the Town's Stormwater Management Plan.
Projects currently being reviewed:
Scott Creek Road Drainage: Council will be accepting public input on April 10, 2012 at the Town Council worksession at 10:00 a.m. at Town Hall.
Dawhoo and Cupid Drainage: Both of these projects are proposed to be addressed by the Department of Transportation during the Sidewalk Enhancement Grant project.
Myrtle Street Drainage: The Town has been working with the Department of Transportation and the Colleton Transportation Committee on developing a feasible solution to this flooding problem.
Yacht Club Road Drainage: The Town has been working with the Department of Transportation on developing a feasible solution to this flooding problem.
Water Quality: The Town has been working with the Department of Health and Environmental Control on a study to determine potential point sources that contributed to elevated fecal bacteria counts in 2010.
