Heaven on Earth?  That would be Edisto Beach.  There is absolutely nowhere else like this “last of the family beaches” called Edisto.  Commercialism is very limited and there are no Ferris Wheels, Gorilla Slides, etc., not even a stop light; yet hundreds of thousands of people visit this special place every year.  Many times it’s what you don’t have, rather than what you do have that attract people to a pure, friendly, family resort.  If you haven’t visited our beach, you have missed at least one treat in your life.  Besides one of the best shelling beaches in the southeast, we have outstanding restaurants, super fishing (guides available), crabbing, bike lanes, nature trails and much, much more for your family to enjoy; plus our beach is very accessible with thirty-eight (38) public beach accesses and free parking.  There are no hotels on Edisto Beach, but houses, condos and duplexes can be rented through many our fine realtors.

I truly believe that you and your family will find this scenic place an experience of a lifetime.  The nickname for Edisto is “Edi-slo” and that will be a welcome break from the hustle and bustle that so many beaches offer today.  One word of caution---this place can be absolutely addictive.

Want to go to heaven?  Y’all come to Edisto!

Burley L. Lyons

 Mayor of Edisto Beach.
