SCE&G to Review Tree Trimming Plans for Edisto Beach
South Carolina Electric and Gas (SCE&G) has recently begun pruning trees in and around the Town of Edisto Beach as part of its five-year cycle to maintain safety and electric system reliability.
To help residents understand the scope and importance of the work, SCE&G representatives will participate in a public meeting at Edisto Beach Town Hall, 2414 Murray Street, Edisto Beach. S.C., on December 12, 2017 at 10 a.m.
SCE&G representatives will be available to answer questions regarding safety, reliability, proper pruning methods, impacted areas and more. Detailed street maps will also be available for review.
The Public Service Commission of South Carolina recognizes the importance of properly maintaining vegetation around power lines, and requires utilities to perform regular maintenance in and along the power line corridor.
SCE&G regularly maintains vegetation around power lines to ensure the safety and reliability of the system. Serious injury or death can occur if energized lines are touched, or if an object is touched that has come in contact with a power line. If you have concerns about trees or vegetation around power lines in your neighborhood, please contact SCE&G Customer Service at 1-800-251-7234.
